Go Above and Beyond Conventional Marketing Using SEMrush

The main reason why you should start using Semrush is to beat your competition by taking control of your page. You can analyze your page, and as a result, you get information which can help you improve SEO and much more.

What is Semrush? It is a tool which can help you to upgrade your business and increase traffic on the page.

How does it work? There are four main categories which we can use:

  • Domain Analytics
  • Keyword Analytics
  • Projects
  • My Reports

So, how can we use them? In Domain Analytics we analyze traffic and keyword statistics of domains; in Keyword Analytics we analyze SEO (Search engine optimization) and CPC (cost per click );  in Projects we analyze the effect of marketing strategies which we are currently using; lastly, in My Reports we can easily create a report with all available data.

For this study, we will use our page www.mybeeline.co and go through all significant fields.

SEMrush – Domain Analytics and Competitors

You start to work in Semrush by clicking on Domain Analytics-> Overview->type the name of your page (without www or http), and as a result you will get Organic search, Paid search and Number of backlinks.

In this view, you can also see if you are improving (or getting worse) for your main keywords.

In Semrush you also have the option to set the date to some particular period. Click Domain Analytics->Overview-> in the right corner you will see Live Data where you can reschedule the period of analyzing as you wish.

If you click on Organic Research->Competitors, you will find your organic competitors for Google database.

As a result, you will get a table with the list of your competitors, so what can you do here?

If you click on the number below the SE Keywords for some competitors, you will get next table.

The meaning of headings you see above is as follows:

  • Keywords – the top keywords that healthywithhoney.com is ranking for
  • Position – where they are ranked for these keywords (the number in brackets is their ranking)
  • Volume – the estimated monthly traffic that is generated from these keywords
  • CPC – the cost of a click if someone advertised based on this keyword (in US Dollars)
  • URL – the web page generating the traffic
  • Traffic – the average percentage of all traffic the website is getting from this keyword

If you click on the number below the Common Keywords for some competitors, you will get next table.

Now we have to analyze queries, see how big is their volume and in the end use them in our content – the result will be the “stealing” of traffic from your competitors. You can also try to get in touch with those companies and offer them advertising on your page, and in return ask for backlinks and an ad for your page.

SEMrush – Compare our page with competitors

So click Gap Analysis and copy links from your competitors.

In the table which you will get are results that include the keyword and the amount of searches for your company and competitors company. You can sort them according to volume and see if there are some keywords which you can use in your content to get more traffic.

If we want to see from which countries are our visitors we need to click on Domain Analytics-> Backlinks->View full report. Now we can see countries which bring us most traffic, and also which domains lead to our content.

Click Domain Analytics -> Overview and if you scroll down in this view, you can also see top organic keywords. Click on View full report to get more information and see which queries your visitors search to get to you.

The result is a big table with different numbers which need interpretation. So, what does this mean to you?

If someone types a keyword “100 pure honey” in the US, content from Mybeeline is the first result they will get. The number 140 shows us the average number of searches for that keyword in one month.

77.91 is the percentage which estimates how difficult it would be to rank well in organic search. The higher the percentage means that it is harder to achieve high rankings for the given keyword.

Cost per click (CPC) is an average amount some users pay for advertisement which includes this keyword.

URL leads us to content from the web page which generates traffic for this keyword.

Competitive density shows competition of advertisers, so if we have number one we are high competitors for this keyword.

Also, you can analyze those keywords and find words with a significant volume of searches which you can use to write some articles or description for some content.

If you want to check which article brings you the most traffic, click Organic Research->Pages.

Click on Keyword Analytics->Keyword Magic Tool and type some keyword for your business. As a result, you will get a table which shows you an average number of monthly searches for given keywords.

Also, Semursh will show you related keywords and their volume of search. Don’t forget that you can do that for all countries from Google database.

In Semrush you have the option to get ideas for improving your Site Audit; Position tracking; Social Media tool; Brand Monitoring; Link Building, SEO Ideas and much more.

Go to Projects->Go to project List->SEO Ideas and as a result, you will get top articles.

To get some specific ideas on what you can do click on green button Ideas.

SEMrush – My Reports

For the end, in Semursh you can create a report from all the information in a very short time. Click My Reports->Report List -> in the right corner Create the report and you will get next view.

To make it simple, just drag and drop the information that you want and Semrush will create a graph for you. Also, you have the option to write comments and add a photo.

Semrush is a useful tool which can only provide more traffic for your business and page. If you analyze properly, your actions will fit your growth strategies. Semrush will give you some advice, but use your ideas and start testing them. Don’t allow competitors to take your customers and visitors.
